Omachie Gundogs was started in February 1988 by myself, Mike Forbes. It was done on a very low key basis with a focus on breeding with only the very best cockers and Labrador Retrievers in the UK.
The first bitch which started my kennel was Bell a Labrador retriever who was bred out of International Field Trial Champion Leacross Rinkals. The second was a cocker called Sally (Sally Ann of Omachie) who produced the Field Trial Champion Omachie Tarf.
The Field Trial Champion Omachie Tarf was the first English Cocker dog to be a Field Trial Champion in the UK and a Field Trial Champion of the American Kennel Club both at the same time.
This remarkable dog which came from our kennel was typical of the high level of breeding crosses chosen for the top working and trialing dogs.
Due to the long term illness of our son Cameron breeding dogs had to take a back seat while we focused on getting him better which although it took some time I am delighted to say he has now grown in to a fine young man.
